6 Ways to Include Your Kids In Your Wedding
For us, our wedding goes so much deeper than just us two. Together, we’ve already brought two beautiful children into this world making looking towards our wedding day that much more magical for us. Just thinking about it gets me all emotional so it was a no-brainer that we wanted to include both of them into our wedding as much as possible. Here are 6 ways to include your kids in your wedding.
RING BEARER & FLOWER GIRL
Both still being in the toddler stage, Achilles will be our Ring Bearer and Jade will be our Flower Girl. With them being this little though, I am not concerned with them doing a “good job”. I’m just excited that they will have their time to shine and even with the possibility of toddler stage fright (hopefully not) and somebody having to carry them down the aisle, the fact that they will be there is everything to us!
FAMILY CAKE TOPPERS
No sweeter way to acknowledge your children then to include the whole family as part of your unique wedding cake topper. These toppers from Little Things Favors can be personalized down to eye color, age and hair color to get it just right.
DANCE
Especially if your kids are out of the toddler stage, having your kids take part in a special dance will have them feeling as important as they are. Have them help out by choosing the song or coordinating the dance with you to let them really shine in their special moment.
BEST MAN DUTIES
I saw a 7-year-old Best Man who’s speech goes down as one of the best! As the son of the Groom, his speech was so genuine and heartfelt that it was basically impossible to not shed a tear or two with them. If your child is up for it, give them the honor of being your Best Man or Maid of Honor and deliver a speech. If they want to speak but are nervous about having to write their own speech, they can recite a special poem of their choice.
SPECIAL VOWS
Writing your children into your vows will not only have your guests reaching for their napkins but might even make your children cry happy tears. I’ve seen videos of dads taking it a step further by writing vows for their step-daughters promising to always be there for them, guiding them in their every step. “Awww” worthy moment indeed!
UNITY CANDLE CEREMONY
You read that right. Instead of the traditional Unity Candle Ceremony, you can make this more kid-friendly by pouring each of your favorite candies into a single vase. If your kids are older, you can ask for their input on ideas for a unique unity ceremony that will represent you as a family.
However way you decide to include your kids in your wedding, as long as you take them into consideration, your day will be that much more special for your family.
