Best Family Halloween Costume: Seriously, THE best!
Last year was our first Halloween as a family of four and if you know us, you know we would be the ones to go all out with the family themed halloween costumes. Achilles discovered his love for cookies last year so when I saw a toddler cookie monster costume, it clicked! We would be Mr. and Mrs. Grouch, Cookie Monster and his favorite little cookie. Ahhh, Sesame Street here we go!
Baby costumes, in my opinion, are usually limited to about 5 basic options and yes they are very cute but honestly none of them really excite me. Since I love an easy DIY, I decided to make my own cookie costume for Jade. No sewing. Just felt (2 dark brown sheets, 4 light brown), a onesie (I used one that was stained on the chest and would’ve ended in the garbage), scissors, a glue stick, and voila. DIY halloween cookie costume was complete!
DIY COOKIE COSTUME Step by step:
For the cookie, cut out all four light brown felt sheets into large circles.
For the chocolate chips, cut out dark brown felt into medium sized circles or make them disproportionate like I did (see pic. below).
With hot glue gun, stick chocolate chips to two “cookies”.
Glue one plain cookie with “chocolate chips” to a plain light brown circle but leave a little opening on top to stuff with scrap paper to give it a little dimension and then finish gluing off the complete cookie.
Glue one cookie to front of onesie and the other to the back.
If you don’t want to go out and buy the material on your own, you can just buy this diy cookie costume pack that already brings everything you need.
Achilles, with milk in hand, was the most excited cookie monster ever when he saw Jade dressed in her cookie costume. So much that he soon after started calling her his cookie!
The reactions we got last year as Mr. and Mrs. Grouch, Cookie Monster and Cookie have raised the bar high for us. Who would’ve known halloween costume ideas for the family would be such a dilemma haha, but let’s see what we can come up with this year…
Are you dressing up this Halloween? What’s your favorite costume, solo or family themed, ever?
